This is a beautiful historical map of Kyoto dating back to 1863, created by Takebara Kahei. It captures the Japanese city during the final years of the Edo period, offering a glimpse into how the ancient capital was laid out nearly 160 years ago. The colour palette is warm and distinctly period, with intricate detail work that rewards close inspection.
We've printed it on 230gsm fine art paper using professional giclée printing and archival pigment inks, so it'll hold its colours for decades without fading. Available in six sizes from A4 right up to 70x100cm, depending on how much of Kyoto's geography you want to live with. If you'd rather skip the framing faff, we can do that for you—choose from solid wood frames in black, white, natural oak, or gold ornate.
It ships rolled in a protective tube from our Newcastle workshop, with free UK delivery on orders over £60. Whether you're a map collector, Kyoto enthusiast, or just after something with genuine historical character, this one sits beautifully on a gallery wall or as a standalone statement piece.
