The "Please Don't Eat Cake in the Bathroom" print is a funny cake quote art print that pairs a formal, classic-style portrait with a wonderfully deadpan instruction. A poised figure in a dark gown, ruffed collar and black cap gazes off to one side, while bold, hand-scrawled lettering sweeps across the canvas to deliver the house rule nobody asked for.

The joy of this altered art portrait print is the contrast. The painting itself is all restraint: a muted grey-green backdrop, layered black fabrics, delicate white ruffs at the neck and wrists, and fine golden chains draped across the bodice. Over the top, the cream lettering feels like a note scribbled by a cheeky housemate, turning a serious sitter into the star of a very modern joke. It is the kind of piece that gets noticed, quoted and photographed by every guest who visits.

Please Don't Eat Cake in the Bathroom is made for anyone who loves a bit of dry humour on the wall. It is a natural fit for funny bathroom wall art, but works just as well in a kitchen, hallway, downstairs loo or a quirky home office. The gold ornate and black ornate frames suit the portrait's period feel, while a slim black or white wood frame gives a cleaner, contemporary look. As a quirky gift for cake lovers, housewarming hosts or anyone with a famously sweet tooth, a framed typography portrait that arrives ready to hang is an easy, memorable present.

Part of the Ink & Drop collection, printed and dispatched in the UK. Screen colours may vary slightly from the printed piece.

When you order a frame from us, it is professionally framed in our workshop and will arrive ready to hang on your wall. The frame itself is a minimal, square black frame, 20mm wide to suit any interior style. There is a visible wood grain as they are made from real wood. This makes them much stronger and resistant to warping like cheaper, MDF frames tend to.
