Elena Pavlovna Gertik is a contemporary illustrator working in a style that bridges the traditional Russian folk art and botanical illustration tradition with a distinctly modern sensibility. Her work is characterised by warmth, delicacy, and a genuine love of the natural world rendered through close observation and a distinctly personal artistic vision.

Gertik's Illustration Style

Gertik's illustrations combine several qualities that make them immediately distinctive:

  • Warmth and character — her subjects have personality and life that goes beyond mere decoration.
  • Folk art influence — Russian folk illustration traditions inform her approach to colour, pattern, and the relationship between subject and background.
  • Botanical precision — within her decorative approach, there is careful botanical observation. Her plants and flowers are botanically coherent.
  • Contemporary sensibility — she uses historical influences without being constrained by them.

Subjects

Gertik's illustration collection at Ink & Drop covers botanical subjects — flowers, plants, and herbs; birds and small animals within botanical settings; and decorative compositions that combine natural elements into complex, beautiful arrangements.

Sizes and Framing

Elena Gertik prints are available in seven sizes from 21x30cm to 100x150cm, framed or unframed. All produced on 230gsm matte art paper with archival inks.
