This black bull Japanese painting by Mochizuki Gyokusen is a study in raw power and composure, captured with assured brushwork that defined the finest animal portraiture of its era. The bold composition and subtle tonal shifts give the subject real presence without sentimentality—just an unflinching observation of strength and stillness.

We've restored the artwork and reproduced it on 230gsm fine art paper using professional giclée printing and archival pigment inks, so the depth and nuance of the original translates faithfully to your wall. Available in six sizes from A4 up to 70x100cm, all printed unframed and rolled in a protective tube for safe UK delivery.

Pair it with one of our solid wood frames in black, white, natural oak or gold ornate finishes, or hang it unframed and let the brushwork speak for itself. Browse our full collection of Japanese art prints for more works from this period—whether displayed alone or as part of a gallery wall, this bull commands the space with an intensity that neither fades nor falters.

When you order a frame from us, it is professionally framed in our workshop and will arrive ready to hang on your wall. The frame itself is a minimal, square black frame, 20mm wide to suit any interior style. There is a visible wood grain as they are made from real wood. This makes them much stronger and resistant to warping like cheaper, MDF frames tend to.
