Ohara Koson's nuthatcher perched amongst persimmons is a quietly masterful study in observation. The bird's sharp focus contrasts beautifully with the soft, organic forms of the fruit—a composition that rewards close looking. This is Japanese woodblock design at its most assured.

Those striking orange and red tones aren't just decorative flourishes; they're the result of centuries-old ukiyo-e tradition meeting contemporary printing techniques. We use archival pigment inks on 230gsm fine art paper to ensure the colours remain as vivid as Koson intended, whether you choose A4, A3, A2, A1, or our larger 50x70cm and 70x100cm formats.

Works brilliantly in kitchens and bathrooms where those warm hues can bounce off tiles and create genuine visual interest. Equally at home in a gallery wall or flanked by other Japanese prints to build a proper collection. Available framed in solid wood—black, white, natural oak, or gold ornate—or unframed if you'd rather handle the hanging yourself.

When you order a frame from us, it is professionally framed in our workshop and will arrive ready to hang on your wall. The frame itself is a minimal, square black frame, 20mm wide to suit any interior style. There is a visible wood grain as they are made from real wood. This makes them much stronger and resistant to warping like cheaper, MDF frames tend to.
