What nursery prints are in the collection?

The nursery collection covers the full range of baby and young child's bedroom wall art — animal nursery prints featuring woodland, farm, and safari animals, alphabet and educational prints, gentle nature prints, illustrated children's characters, soft botanical prints suitable for nurseries, and personalised prints with names and birth details. Styles range from classic watercolour illustration to contemporary graphic nursery art.

What styles of nursery art are most popular?

Woodland animal nursery prints — foxes, rabbits, deer, owls, and bears — have been consistently the most popular nursery art style for the last decade, particularly in the Scandi-influenced muted palette version. Soft botanical and floral prints in pastel tones are popular for girls' rooms. Safari animal prints are popular for gender-neutral nurseries. Alphabet prints and name prints are popular because they are both decorative and educational. Personalised birth prints — featuring name, weight, date, and time — are among the most popular gift choices for new parents.

What colours and styles work in a nursery?

The most enduring nursery palettes are soft and muted — pastels, warm neutrals, and the Scandi-influenced palette of sage green, dusty pink, warm grey, and cream. Very bright, high-contrast colours can overstimulate young children; muted, warm palettes create the calm, restful atmosphere that nurseries and young children's rooms benefit from. Nature and animal subjects are popular because they provide visual interest and gentle learning about the natural world without thematic complexity.

Nursery art prints do more than decorate a baby's room — they provide early visual stimulation, introduce children to the natural world, and create the warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes a nursery feel safe and considered. This collection brings together the finest woodland animal prints, safari and farmyard art, alphabet and educational prints, botanical nursery art, and personalised prints for the most personal gift you can give new parents.

Choosing Nursery Art

The best nursery prints are gentle in palette, high in illustration quality, and appropriate for a range of ages — from newborn to toddler and beyond. Muted, warm palettes (sage green, warm grey, dusty pink, cream) are the most enduring choices because they create a calm atmosphere without over-stimulating young children. Animal and nature subjects provide gentle learning opportunities as children develop their vocabulary and understanding of the world.

Personalised & Gift Prints

Personalised nursery prints — featuring the baby's name, birth date, weight, and time — are among the most popular gifting choices for new parents and grandparents. Each print is unique to the child and creates a permanent, meaningful piece of art in their first room. Birth announcement prints and name prints are ideal christening and new baby gifts.

Frequently Asked Questions

All Ink & Drop prints are produced on archival art paper with non-toxic, fade-resistant inks — safe for use in nurseries. Framed prints are recommended for nurseries as the frame protects the print and prevents any chance of the paper being accessed. Keep prints at a height the child cannot reach but can see from their cot or bed — this is both safe and the most developmentally appropriate placement for early visual stimulation.

For a gender-neutral nursery, the most popular palettes are warm neutrals (cream, sand, warm grey) with sage green and terracotta accents, or a soft monochrome (warm white and grey) with natural wood. Safari animal prints and woodland animal prints in warm, muted palettes work in both neutral and traditionally gendered nurseries. Avoid very bright or high-contrast palettes in nurseries — muted, warm tones create the calming atmosphere that young children sleep and rest best in.

Yes — nursery art prints are one of the most popular baby gift choices because they are practical, long-lasting, and create something permanent in the child's room. Personalised prints with the baby's name and birth date are particularly popular as gifts from relatives and godparents. Framed prints are ideal for gifting because they are ready to hang. All prints are packaged safely for delivery.

Two to four coordinated nursery prints in a small gallery arrangement works well — enough visual interest to engage a young child without overwhelming the room. A single large print (50x70cm or 70x100cm) at cot level as a feature piece is also highly effective. Sets of three prints in the same style and palette create cohesion without requiring design decisions. Avoid very small prints at high adult eye-level — nursery art should be where the child can see and engage with it.

The best nursery prints — woodland animals, botanical art, alphabet and educational prints — are designed to grow with the child from nursery through to primary school age. Very baby-specific prints (rattles, prams, nappy-related illustration) date quickly; animal, nature, and educational prints have a longer in-room lifespan. When transitioning from nursery to child's room, replace one or two prints with bolder, more age-appropriate pieces while keeping the coordinating ones.
