This map of Asia by Abraham Ortelius from 1570 captures that fleeting moment when cartography was equal parts art and educated speculation. The hand-coloured tones and ornamental flourishes give it a character that modern precision simply cannot replicate, presenting a window into how European explorers imagined an entire continent centuries ago.

We've reproduced it on 230gsm fine art paper using archival pigment inks, so the colours remain vibrant for decades without the fragility of an authentic 16th-century original. Four sizes are available—from A4 right up to A1—meaning you can tuck it into a study corner or anchor a feature wall with equal confidence.

Opt for framing at checkout and we'll supply it glazed and ready to hang in black, white, natural oak, or gold ornate finishes. The print rolls up and travels in a protective tube from our Newcastle base, arriving safe and flat. If you're drawn to historical geography, explore our vintage cartography prints for other centuries-old world views, or let this one stand alone—a tangible echo of the age of exploration rendered in Ortelius's distinctive cartographic vision.

When you order a frame from us, it is professionally framed in our workshop and will arrive ready to hang on your wall. This makes them much stronger and resistant to warping like cheaper, MDF frames tend to.
