The "Girl with Bauble Earring" print is a witty festive twist on a classic painted portrait. A young woman in a blue and gold turban glances over her shoulder at the viewer, and in place of a traditional pearl, a glossy red Christmas bauble dangles from her ear. It is a small joke with a big smile, and it turns a timeless portrait into a seasonal talking point.

The detail is what makes this piece so special. The soft, luminous skin, the parted lips and the wide, curious eyes sit against a deep, dark background that makes every colour glow. The cool ultramarine of the headscarf and the warm yellow ochre of the jacket are set off beautifully by the single bright red bauble, which becomes the focal point of the whole composition. Fine crackle texture across the surface gives the portrait the feel of an old painting, so the festive surprise feels all the more unexpected. The portrait orientation suits the tall, elegant proportions of the figure.
