The "Portrait of Eleazar Swalmius with Lambrini and Party Hat" print is a funny party hat portrait that takes the solemn look of a classic oil painting and gives it a gloriously cheeky twist. A distinguished, white-bearded gentleman in a dark fur-trimmed robe and crisp white ruff sits in a carved wooden chair, wearing a sparkling red foil party hat and holding a bottle of Lambrini as if it were the finest vintage. The artwork is an altered version of Portrait of Eleazar Swalmius by Rembrandt, reimagined by Ink & Drop for Christmas.

What makes this piece special is the contrast. The brooding brown backdrop, the soft, dramatic lighting and the thoughtful, direct gaze all feel like traditional portraiture, yet the glittering cone hat and the pink bottle with its little gold crown label turn the whole thing into a celebration. The palette is rich and earthy, with deep blacks and warm browns set against flashes of festive red, gold and blush pink. It is altered art wall decor that rewards a second look, and it makes a brilliant conversation starter wherever it hangs.

This quirky vintage portrait art is made for anyone with a sense of humour and a soft spot for a bit of prosecco-style fizz, or in this case, something pinker and fruitier. It looks superb in a kitchen, dining room, home bar, living room or hallway, and it adds personality to a gallery wall. As a funny gift for wine lovers, birthday boys and girls, housewarmings or anyone who loves a party, a framed portrait print is delivered ready to hang, so there is nothing left to do but find the perfect spot. Pair a gold ornate frame with the dark tones for extra grandeur, or choose black wood for a sleeker finish. Keep it out of prolonged direct sunlight and dust gently with a dry, soft cloth.

Part of the Ink & Drop collection, printed and dispatched in the UK. Screen colours may vary slightly from the printed piece.
