This vintage printing poster celebrates the graphical boldness of Queen City Printing Inks, featuring stylised figures rendered in striking green and orange tones. Illustrated by Augustus Jansson and dating back to 1863, it's a piece of design history that proves promotional art can be genuinely compelling. The composition captures a moment when colour printing was a showcase of technical mastery, not mere advertisement.

What makes this print special is how those warm oranges and cool greens create real visual tension, drawing the eye across the composition with the kind of confident simplicity modern design often chases but rarely nails. It's the perfect choice if you're after vintage poster art with genuine character, or if you simply love bold, retro graphics that don't whisper.

We print it on 230gsm fine art paper using archival pigment inks—ironically, the same durability standards that Queen City Printing Inks themselves would have aspired to over 160 years ago. Available unframed in sizes from A4 up to 70×100cm, or ready to hang in your choice of gallery frames in black, white, oak and gold. Dispatched from our Newcastle workshop, this is vintage printing culture that's built to last.

When you order a frame from us, it is professionally framed in our workshop and will arrive ready to hang on your wall. This makes them much stronger and resistant to warping like cheaper, MDF frames tend to.
