Flower Market Prints

The flower market print format — bold typographic layout, flower variety list, market location and date — emerged as a genuine interior design trend in the 2010s and has proved more enduring than almost any other contemporary print style. There is something about the format that works: the combination of optimistic floral subject matter with the authoritative weight of market typography creates a piece that is simultaneously decorative and graphically bold.

The Flower Market Print Format

Classic flower market prints follow a simple but effective format: a central typographic header (often a city name or "Flower Market"), a body of text listing flower varieties in market style, and a date or location footer. The typefaces are typically bold, sans-serif, or mix of classic serif and sans-serif. The colour palette is usually restrained — black or dark ink on cream or white paper, with accent colours used sparingly.

Variations in This Collection

The flower market collection includes several variations on the classic format:

  • City flower market prints — Amsterdam, Paris, London, Chelsea, and other famous flower market locations.
  • Seasonal flower prints — prints organised by season rather than location.
  • Colour-accent variations — classic black and white with pink, green, or other colour accents.
  • Format variations — tall portrait, wider landscape, and square format flower market compositions.

Why Flower Market Prints Work in Interiors

Flower market prints work across interior styles because they balance two qualities that are rarely found together: graphic boldness and natural warmth. The typographic format adds visual weight; the floral subject matter prevents it from feeling corporate. They suit kitchens, dining rooms, and living rooms equally well, and they are consistently popular as gifts.

Sizes and Framing

Flower market prints are available in seven sizes from 21x30cm to 100x150cm, framed or unframed. All produced on 230gsm matte art paper with archival inks.

What is a flower market print?

A flower market print is a typographic poster in the style of traditional flower market signage — typically featuring bold typography, a list of flower varieties, and a market location or date. The format was popularised by Scandinavian design brands in the 2010s and has become one of the most enduring contemporary interior print styles. The appeal lies in the combination of graphic boldness with the optimistic, natural subject matter of fresh flowers.

What cities are available in flower market prints?

The collection includes flower market prints for Amsterdam, Paris, London, Chelsea, and other famous flower market locations. Some prints use the generic "Flower Market" format without a specific city. New city variations are added regularly.

What rooms suit flower market prints best?

Flower market prints work particularly well in kitchens, dining rooms, and living rooms — anywhere that benefits from a mix of graphic boldness and natural warmth. In kitchens, the fresh flower subject matter is a natural fit. In dining rooms, the typographic weight creates a considered focal point. In living rooms, they work alongside botanical and nature prints. They are also popular in hallways as a welcoming, optimistic first impression.
